Dead Fantasy 2: By Mounty Oum

Before I let you see the video today, I want you to see this creative example of an image that my friend did for one of his photos:

I think it's really cool the idea he had for this. It was quite deep actually; even I'm not sure what the full idea is behind it, but I appreciate it and it looks rather enticing. Also, I'm very aware of the time it took for him to do this (he was a rookie at the time). That being said, however, I'm going to decline putting a creative image of me as my avatar. Sorry sir, but i really really really really really really really really really really like my current one....

Right on to more fun matters...

Last time we left it, Final Fantasy had added another character to even the odds and make it 3 on 3. let's see what happens next:

Defining Creativity

(Let's pretend that I was) In today's lesson, we learned about defining creativity, and I must say, there are so many creative ways to define it. The very first one however, caught my attention and it is the basis of this blog:

"...the generation of new ideas or a new way of doing things" (Week 2 lecture)

(We learned a lot today from Edward De Bono's Thinking Managers' and he reminds me of the Monopoly man)

I like that the lecturers used this book, because to me it shows that they believe in our aspirations to rise to the top, which is very nice. Aww...

Moving on...

I want to explore the definition. My favourite way to do that is to expand all the big words. so we are going to take the words "generation, new and ideas" into expansion.

generation: "a successive stage in natural descent of organisms: the timebetween when an organism comes into being and when itreproduces"
new:
"of a kind now existing or appearing for the first time"
idea:
"a thought, conception, or notion"
[all quotes taken from various dictionaries compiled in this online dictionary]

So after taking them apart, the new proposed definition will now sound like this:
"the successive stage of now existing or appearing for the first time thoughts, conceptions or notions"
That's awesome. In other words, simple things, when processed successively, produce creation, or in our world, creativity. I repeat. That's awesome.
We also learned about the myths of creativity and our lecturer was a mythbuster! So I'm going play the theme song (from Youtube of course) and if you like, make your own words, but always replace ghostbusters.

Side Note: I think the ghostbusters are pretty cool and creative. I mean the whole idea of creating ghosts and then heroes to swart them. Mind you, not just any heroes, normal-average-slightly-overweight-also-scared-of-ghosts-glasses-wearing-dork-tendency-having-regular-9-to-5-jobs-having heroes!
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I present to you

my MMU Creative Studies lecturers
Creative
(in a nutshell)

  1.  Creativity is not just for talented people, but for everyone. In order to get your creative juices flowing, you need to go beyond your natural motivation.
  2. Being creative is easy, not hard. It's the actual work that is hard. 1% - inspiration 99% perspiration (Thomas Edison)
  3. Problems=learning. Problems are not there to make our lives purposely difficult. They are there to help us appreciate hard work.
  4. You think you're not creative? Repeat after me. *ahem* I am creative. I can't hear you. I AM creative. Not convinced. I AM CREATIVE. Again! I AM CREATIVE! AGAIN! I! AM! CREATIVE!! Yes you are.
  5. Genius matches with innovation. Are you a genius? No. Then what did we just learn? You're creative, but work hard (seems like De Bono the one teaching us today)!
  6. There are actually no new ideas! Wait a minute! What?! But you said.., then you said..
  7. Brainstorming is fun! ^_^ Really? Why then is it called a storm?
  8. Creativity is for everyone (Even this guy --->
  9. Structured creative techniques do actually enhance creativity, as long as they are suited to your own creative prowess.
So what is the the standard definition of creativity?
    (lecturer's notes)
    ":
Creativity is the ability to think up and design new inventions, produce works of art, solve problems in new ways, or develop an idea based on an original, novel, or unconventional approach.

In other words, it is the ability to see green as the new black; the ability to make cars come to life, or turtles learn jujitsu, or our lecturers keep us entertained enough the whole lesson to listen and participate (or me to put this paragraph in different colours).

At the end of the day, whether you want to express yourself uniquely, show your talents, stand out, you need to exercise and realise your potential to creativity.

"Have the ability to have an attitude of acceptance for new things and good things with the process of improvement. That's creativity." Thabile Rampa

    It's about Creative Solutions

What have i learned about creative studies? Well, for starters I've learned that the term "creative studies" is an oxymoron, much like "pretty ugly" or clean pig" is. The two words are opposite, yet the adjective words are complementary to the word in which they are describing(which is one of many words we have learned this semester/trimester*). That is what
Creative Studies' objectives are: "To develop the ability to identify an issue or topic and from that carrying out appropriate research, analysis and idea synthesis that will result in a unique, personal statement." (Lecture 0 Notes,Yap Sau Bin, 2011) I believe that our lecturers have the capability to awaken the association in me to work with my logical thinking to produce exceptional resulyts, not only in class, but in the future and my career (but first, I have to work on my laziness, which is what I'm trying to do right now. Gosh! I really don't like school...trying to change that...ahem..back to topic). I am expectant of the subject to channel my creative power for me to provide unique solutions for now and tomorrow..the future...

It's not just about Creativity (the introduction)

It's about creative solutions, it's about unique ideas being put into practivity, it's definitely not about the fact that it's an assignment....*chuckle* i guess we'll see when time progresses eh? I can tell you with sincerety that I'm writing this because I'm pressed for a deadline..so I guess not a good start. I do, however, enjoy the class even though I don't fully agree with the lecturer(s) sometimes, but the edutainment will help post my concerns and stuffs here (pollitely of course). Feel free to check my blog and comment!!

For today, watch this. you may think it's creative or what not, but at the end of the day, don't deny its awesomeness!
